HOW WE WORK WITH PARENTS

OVERVIEW
HOW WE WORK WITH PARENTS
ELDR Academy supports parents who want to help their sons become more confident, responsible, and self-directed, without constant conflict, nagging, or feeling like everything turns into a battle.
Many parents can see their son’s potential but feel stuck watching motivation drop, emotions spike, or technology take over. ELDR provides practical frameworks and shared language that help restore clarity, reduce tension, and support growth at home and school.
MY ROLE
A
Partner,
Not a Replacement
Parenting teenage boys is hard, especially when expectations are unclear, communication breaks down, or effort becomes inconsistent.
ELDR Academy works with parents to remove confusion and power struggles by providing:
- Clear, practical frameworks you can apply immediately at home
- Shared language that reduces arguments and emotional escalation
- Expectations that balance care, boundaries, and accountability
- Support that complements what schools are already reinforcing
This is not about blame, quick fixes, or forcing compliance.
It is about helping young men understand expectations, take ownership, and grow into responsibility over time.

InboxFAQs
Common questions about fit, delivery, and outcomes.
Is this counselling or therapy?
No. ELDR Academy is not therapy or counselling.
The work is practical, structured, and focused on habits, responsibility, communication, and expectations. If clinical support is required, we encourage families to seek specialist services alongside this work.
My son isn’t motivated. Will this still work?
Yes, motivation is not the starting point.
Structure and clarity come first. As young men begin to understand expectations and experience consistency, motivation tends to follow.
What if my son doesn’t want to do it?
That’s common. The sessions are designed for young men who are resistant, disengaged, or unsure. There is no pressure to “open up” or perform. Participation grows naturally through discussion, relevance, and respect.
How is this different from school wellbeing programs?
ELDR works alongside schools, not separately from them.
The frameworks and language used are designed to align with school expectations and pastoral systems, helping create consistency across home and school rather than mixed messages.
Will this just add more pressure to my son?
No. The goal is the opposite.
Clear expectations reduce anxiety and emotional escalation. When young men know what’s expected and how to meet those expectations, pressure decreases and confidence improves.
Is this a quick fix?
No, and that’s intentional.
ELDR focuses on long-term growth, not short-term compliance. The aim is to help young men build skills and habits they can carry forward, not just behave better for a few weeks.
How involved do parents need to be?
Parents are supported with clear guidance and language, but the work does not require constant supervision or additional workload. The focus is on consistency, not control. Plus Pat is always there for parent support as well, building a full circle support structure around your young man.
What ages is this suitable for?
Programs typically support young men from late primary through senior secondary years. Fit depends more on readiness and needs than age alone.
How do I know if this is right for my son?
That’s what the consult is for.
If ELDR isn’t the right fit, we’ll say so. The goal is clarity, not conversion.
